Satan will get into your head, whether it’s a subtle suggestion, or an aggressive gesture, he will do everything he can to distract us from honoring God. Our electronic devices can be a distraction and become temptation. Yes, it is a valuable tool for us in this day and age, but, like anything, if not used in moderation, it can become an addiction or a distraction. Have you ever felt yourself looking at your smart watch every time it makes a noise or a vibration, instead of ignoring it?
We need to keep our spiritual ears open to the Word of God, to the direction of the Holy Spirit. Don’t let the noise drown out His word to you. If you surround yourself with noise, you will likely never hear God speaking to you, or giving you direction.
Part of our discipline as a believer, is to make time for God, too. Take deliberate time out of your day to pray, meditate, clear your mind, and be present to Him.
“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
Matthew 6:6 ESV
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
Romans 8:26 ESV
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Romans 12:12 ESV
