Importance of Fellowship

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
1 John 1:7 ESV
“Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
2 Corinthians 13:11 ESV
Fellowship amongst brothers and sisters in Christ is so important. Being able to spend time with other fellow believers, sharing life, laughing, crying, and praying together, is what God wants. If you are married, having this closeness with your spouse is so important as well. If you struggle to find this kind of openness with anyone, especially your spouse, pray about it. Ask God to give you the courage to talk to them about your prayers, about what’s been on your heart. Make sure God is a part of your daily communion with others.
A longtime friend of mine and I just started a weekly video call where we can catch up with our personal lives, hobbies, jobs, kids, marriages, but also to share where we are with our spiritual walk, what we are listening to, reading, watching to help feed our hearts. There are so many great books, podcasts, and videos out there that are edifying to God, and help you grow as a believer in Jesus Christ. Seek these out. Ask others what they have read. Find someone you can commune with in person or virtually, to talk about these things, and make sure you pray with them. Jesus told us, “Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:19–20 ESV).. Even in a virtual call, Jesus is present with two or more.
Dear Father in Heaven, God, creator of Heaven and Earth, we thank you for your glory and promises. We pray to Jesus our Savior, to be in our presence when we are with others. Whether it is with family, friends, at the dinner table, or even in a business meeting. Guide our words, guide our thoughts, and help us to be humble and kind, loving one another as Christ loves us.
Dear Lord Jesus, may the Holy Spirit teach us your wisdom so we can share insights, scripture, parables, and prayer with one another. Be in our hearts, minds, and souls, and teach us to comfort one another.
In Jesus’ Holy and Precious Name, Amen.
“and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
Isaiah 2:3 ESV
