Isaiah 5:20–21 — Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitterness for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their sight!
It’s wild to think this same problem we are experiencing our world today has been going on for thousands of years. Each generation has the opportunity to learn from our past, and more importantly, to learn from God, from the Word of God.
The story of the vineyard that was built on a fertile hill, and after all provisions were made, and everything planted and ready for the grapes to grow, they grew in as wild grapes instead of the choice vines that were planted. The vineyard was destroyed because it grew into something that was not meant to be.
Isaiah 5:7 — For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the mention of Judah are his pleasant planting; and he looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, an outcry.
This was a dark time, just like it is today.
May the Lord of Heaven and Earth, wash over us, protect us from evil, and help us to not be a desolate house, and help us yield good fruit, as the city around us is left to destruction because of the sin among us. Lord Jesus, thank you for your grace and protection. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
